Tasca Ready to Bring Thunder to Valley

Bristol, Tenn. — Bob Tasca III talks about racing in Thunder Valley in Bristol, Tenn. Tasca sits seventh in NHRA Drag Racing Full Throttle Series points standings with 10 races remaining before the Countdown.

BOB TASCA III – MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE SHELBY MUSTANG FUNNY CARAFTER ONE WEEK OFF, HOW EAGER ARE YOU TO GET BACK IN YOUR CAR?“When you have a Shelby Mustang that’s running as good as our car right now, as a driver you just want to get in it and you just want to make as many runs as you can. Certainly, for me, it’s been a learning process. There’s no easy way to learn how to drive a fuel car, there’s a lot that goes into it. Obviously, St. Louis was a learning experience for me. It’s certainly not something that you ever want to do again and that’s go before the tree goes on, but like anything else, you have to learn.”

BRISTOL IS THE EIGHTH RACE THIS SEASON AND THERE ARE 10 RACES BEFORE THE COUNTDOWN. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR THIS PORTION OF THE SEASON?“I’m actually looking forward to some back-to-back races and some three-in-a-rows because I think the team jells that way. As a driver, particularly as a new driver, the more back-to-back runs in the car the better. So I’m looking forward to getting to Bristol, getting behind the wheel of our Motorcraft/Quick Lane machine and laying down some big numbers. When you have that kind of confidence going you just want to keep stepping up to the plate. It’s only a matter of time before we’re going to hit a home run again and I hope that it will be in Bristol, and I have a good feeling about the race.”

WHY DO YOU LIKE TO RACING IN BRISTOL?“It’s set in the valley, they call it Thunder Valley and it’s just really awesome. The pits are laid out where one row of the pits is right against the race track. I remember last year we were right near the finish line and literally I would walk to the back of our pit and that was the wall where the race cars came by. So it was really a pretty cool perspective of watching the cars come by and then the echoing coming off the mountain. It’s literally cut into the side of the mountain. The echo of the fuel cars is pretty awesome. It’s just a real cool place to race.”
